About the Citizens for Responsible Government (CRG)
The Citizens for Responsible Government movement began with letters to the editor of the Dexter Leader and comments made at Dexter Village Council meetings beginning in 2006. CRG was organized in 2007 in response to plans by the Dexter Village Council to annex property in Scio Township. As we discussed the annexation issue with our neighbors around the Village, we listened as they told us about other issues on their minds. People told us that they did not think the Village Council was responsive to their concerns. Listening to some of the Trustees, we realized they were equally frustrated by what they viewed as inadequate communication between citizens and the Village's political leadership.
The Citizens for Responsible Government is an organization comprised of people who live or work in Village of Dexter as well as the adjacent neighborhoods. We are united by the prevailing view that our local government has been unresponsive to the concerns, opinions and the will of its citizens relative to the issues of annexation, cityhood and wise land use. The group was formed to seek and provide information in a timely manner to enable our citizens to make informed decisions regarding the aforementioned issues and future elections.
