The Lady Who Got Things Started - Who and Why

Mary Fialkowski has lived in the Dexter area for over 45 years. She and her husband Ray have lived on Forest Street in the Village of Dexter for over 14 years. They have raised three children who graduated from Dexter High School and are  former foster parents of nine children. Mary was previously employed as an RN at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital, University of Michigan Hospital and Chelsea Community Hospital. She has been a hospice volunteer for the past 10 years. Mary is a former member of the Dexter Jaycees and current member of the Red Hat group and the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR).

In Mary's words:
"My husband and I love this town and its people. We hope to see the small town atmosphere in Dexter preserved as long as possible for future generations. We support reasonable and controlled growth. We will continue to do all we can to seek out more citizens who live and/or work in Dexter to join us. We must attend Village Council and Committee meetings frequently. We must keep informed by reading the local papers and talking with each other. Our future in Dexter depends on our effort to step up and be noticed."
